P.A. Lakshmi Prasanna (born in 1968) is currently working as Senior Scientist in the research theme area of institutional change at NCAP. She joined NCAP as Scientist in July 1996. She graduated from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University in 1990 and completed her M.Sc(Ag) in Agricultural Economics from the same university in 1993. She was awarded Chowdary Charan Singh Gold Medal and Proddatur Fertilizers dealers Association Gold medal for her good performance in M.Sc(Ag) in April 1993. She was also awarded the fourth All India Sugarcane Workers Conference book Prize for her M.Sc(Ag) thesis work in April 1993. She completed her Ph.D in Agricultural Economics in May 2008 from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University by working on dissertation “Measurement of market power and cost efficiency in Mango pulp industry of Andhra Pradesh”. Ms. Prasanna’s research interests includes institutional economics, behavioral economics, mathematical modelling and interlinking these disciplinary knowledge in Agricultural development oriented projects. Earlier she worked as principal investigator in research project on “Determinants of performance of Self Help Groups in rural microfinance”. Currently she is the principal investigator in the project “Smallholders in Indian Agriculture, past, current status and future”.
